Background

In 2009, Milton Council approved the accelerated construction of the Milton Centre for the Arts (MCA), thanks to a $16.2 million investment from the Building Canada Fund - Communities Component. This $39.3 million project was funded through provincial and federal grants, dedicated to community infrastructure projects.

MCA is located at the southeast corner of Main Street and Thompson Road, on the former Milton Hydro site. This location serves as a gateway to downtown Milton and is supported by public transit and pedestrian connections.

  • Vision: The Milton Centre for the Arts is the premier venue to experience the arts. It is welcoming and accessible, and offers something for everyone.

  • Mission: The Milton Centre for the Arts will engage, enrich, educate and entertain our citizens, guests and visitors by encouraging them to participate in and experience literary, media, performing and visual arts in a welcoming environment.

  • Promise: Each visitor to the Milton Centre for the Arts (program participant, patron, audience member, permit holder or volunteer) will enjoy a fulfilling and meaningful quality experience.

Committees

MCA recognizes the support of several volunteer committees, created to act as the voice of the Milton community and provide input into performances bookings, rental policies and so much more.

  • User Advisory Group: Consisting of representatives from MCA user groups, this committee works with staff to build audiences, examine operating policies and procedures, and ensure the Centre is used to its fullest potential.

  • Programming & Sponsorship Committee: Community volunteers work with staff to recommend professional entertainment and seek sponsorship opportunities to offset the cost of performances and shows.

  • Gallery Selection Committee: Volunteers work with MCA staff to assist with calls for submissions, review applications and schedule exhibitions.

  • Artwork Hanging Committee: Committee members use creativity and experience to position artwork in preparation for exhibitions.
